Emma Stone Revealed Her Struggle with Hormonal Acne and Stress Related Acne.
Now she uses foundation every day to cover up her pimples. But at one stage her skin troubles were so bad that she was forced to go on acne medication.
She told: I am actually pretty interested in skin care, because I had bad hormonal acne when I was 17, and they put me on acne medication for it. After two months of medication, I went off of it, and since then, my skin, my mouth, my lips, my eyes are all so dry. Then, I had stress acne when I was 20, when I did Easy A, which they kindly video-airbrushed out of the movie.
When it Comes to Acne Cures, Emma Stone Said:
Usually, I use tea tree oil. I can’t go too crazy, or I’ll get a rash. My skin is really sensitive. Whenever it’s been really bad, I’ve gone to the dermatologist to get those cortisone shots. Those are amazing. They’re kind of a miracle. But also kind of terrifying because this huge needle is coming at your face. But no pain, no gain!
“But I realized how debilitating and embarrassing it can be to have cystic acne. So, I am really interested in the biology of what makes up acne and how to work on it from the outside, too,” she added.
But, while the actress says she can’t take credit for her look, she did provide a couple skin tips that she’s picked up from the pros. For blemishes, she suggests dabbing on a bit of tea tree oil or, for more seriously situations, getting a cortisone shot.
Whenever someone in the public eye comes out and is so frank about their struggles with acne, it makes me want to shout from the rooftops. Acne can make us feel embarrassed and ashamed of who we are. Even celebrities have acne. So seeing that you can be confident and beautiful, and have acne, is a great feeling.
